Élodie Lussac (born May 7th, 1979 in Saint Catherine, Pas de Calais, France) is a retired French elite gymnast.
Early Career[]
Born in 1979 in St. Catherine les Arras, Élodie Lussac began gymnastics at the age of 5. Though both of her parents were gymnastics coaches, they initially refused to sign her up for gymnastics, instead taking her to a dance school. Lussac, however, kept begging her parents until they finally accepted, and she began her gymnastics career. Her progress was quick, and by the age of 7 she was already part of a high-level developmental team. A few years later, she was already part of the French national squad.
Career[]
In the late 80s, Lussac moved to Marseilles to train at the city's gymnastics centre with coaches Shi Mao and Lin Xuan, with other gymnasts such as Laetitia Begüe and Elvire Teza.
Her first national-level success came in 1989, when she won the French national Espoirs ("hope") championships, a title she defended for 3 years straight, since she didn't participate in the Junior division until 1992.
