The 2001 Pan American Championships were held from October 2–7 in Cancún, Mexico.

Format of Competition

The first day of competition served as a team and all-around final. Teams could consist of up to six gymnasts. Each country could have up to five gymnasts compete on each event but only four scores counted towards the team total. The top eight gymnasts on each event from the first day of competition moved on to the event finals. Only two-gymnasts per country could compete in each event final.
