The 2015 Pan American Games will be held in Toronto, Canada from July 10–26. Approximately 8,000 athletes from 41 nations are expected to participate in 36 sports. Both the Pan American and Parapan American Games are being organized by the Toronto 2015 Organizing Committee (TO2015). The 2015 Pan American Games will become the third Pan American Games hosted by Canada and the first by the province of Ontario. Previously, Canada hosted the 1967 Pan American Games and the 1999 Pan American Games both in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The 2015 Parapan American Games will be held twelve days after the Pan American Games.

Following PASO tradition, Toronto mayor Rob Ford and Canadian Minster for sport Bal Gosal received the Pan American Sports Organization flag during the closing ceremony of the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico.

The 2015 Pan American Games will become the first completely ecologically friendly games, because it will be fully carbon neutral. The Games will also be the largest multi-sport event ever to be held in Canada, double the size of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

Format of Competition[]

All participating gymnasts, including those who were not part of a team, participated in a qualification round, which also served as the team final. Each team of five gymnasts could only have four gymnasts perform on each apparatus, and three scores counted toward the team total. The results of this competition determined which teams and individuals participated in the remaining competitions, which included:

  • The all-around competition, in which only the twenty-four highest scoring individuals in the all-around competed. Each country was limited to only two gymnasts in the all-around final.
  • The event finals, in which the eight highest scoring individuals on each apparatus competed. Each country was limited to two gymnasts in each apparatus final.
