Antonia Irina Duta (born October 8 in Bucharest) is a Romanian elite gymnast. She represented Romania as a junior at the 2018 European Championships, 2019 Junior World Championships, and 2019 European Olympic Youth Festival.
Junior Career[]
2017-2018[]
Duta competed at the Romanian Junior Championships in 2017, winning uneven bars gold, all-around bronze, and placing sixth on balance beam.
In 2018, Duta made her international debut at the City of Jesolo Trophy in April, placing sixth with her team and thirty-third in the all-around. At the Deva Friendly, she won team silver and placed eighth in the all-around, and later won team gold and all-around silver at the Izvorani Friendly. She was named to the Romanian team for the European Championships, where she placed fourth with her team and on floor exercise and twenty-sixth in the all-around. At the Romanian National Championships in October, she won silver on floor exercise and placed fifth on vault and eighth in the all-around and on balance beam. She competed at the Top Gym Tournament in Belgium in November, winning floor exercise gold and placing fifth on uneven bars and eleventh in the all-around.
2019[]
Duta began her season at the Flanders International Team Challenge in June, winning team gold. At the Romanian Junior Championships later that month, she placed twelfth in the all-around and posted the third-highest score on uneven bars. She was named to the Romanian team for the inaugural Junior World Championships in Gyor, Hungary. There, she placed fourth with her team and thirty-fourth in the all-around. In July, she competed at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Baku, Azerbaijan, winning team silver. At the Romanian National Championships in September, she won uneven bars bronze, and placed fifth in the all-around and on floor exercise.
Senior Career[]
2020[]
Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic pushed back Duta's senior debut. She finally made her senior debut at the Romanian National Championships in November, winning uneven bars silver and balance beam bronze, and placing fourth on vault and floor and sixth in the all-around. In December, she competed at the postponed European Championships in Mersin, Turkey, winning team silver and placing fifth on floor exercise.
2021[]
Duta was chosen to compete for Romania at the 2021 Basel European Championships, but did not make any finals. Her next competition was the Flanders International Team Challenge in late June, where she placed fourth on floor, eighth with her team, and sixteenth in the all-around. Although she didn't compete at the Olympics in Tokyo, she continued to compete internationally, placing sixth on beam and seventh on bars at the Koper World Cup in September.
2022[]
Duta competed at the Baku World Cup in early April, placing fourth on floor exercise. In August, she competed at the European Championships in Munich, Germany, but didn't place in the all-around, due to two of her teammates placing higher than her.
2023[]
Duta competed in the 1st Italian Serie A Nationale in February, the 2nd Serie A in March, and the 3rd Serie A in May, as a part of the Renato Serra team, which placed tenth, then ninth, and then fifth. That fall, she competed at the Szombathely World Cup in Hungary, but didn't make the event finals.
