Guan Chenchen (Chinese: 管晨辰, pinyin: Guǎn Chénchén, born September 25, 2004 in Hubei) is an elite Chinese gymnast and 2020 Olympian. She is the 2020 Olympic Champion on balance beam, a title she earned in her senior international debut competition. She has also represented China at the 2019 Junior World Championships.

Junior Career[]

2017-2018[]

In 2017, Guan competed at the Chinese Junior Championships, where she qualified in first place into the all-around final, where she would place third.

In 2018, Guan competed at the Chinese National Championships, where she placed third with her regional team and second on beam, tying with Chen Yile. Additionally, she placed seventh in the all-around and on floor. At the Chinese Junior Championships in the under 14 division, she won the all-around as well as the beam. She placed second on the floor and fourth on uneven bars.

2019[]

In 2019, Guan competed internationally at the City of Jesolo Trophy in Italy. She placed ninth in the all-around among the juniors, and made the vault and floor finals, finishing sixth in both. At the Chinese Championships in May, Guan placed third with her regional team of Zhejiang. She also placed eighth in the all-around. In June, she was selected as part of China's three member team for the first Junior World Championships in Hungary. There, the Chinese team placed second in the team final, behind the Russians. She then attended the Chinese National Youth Games next month, placing second with her city team of Ningbo. She also placed fourth in the all-around. She additionally placed sixth on bars, second on beam, and first on vault.

Senior Career[]

2020-2021[]

Guan made her senior debut at the Chinese National Championships in September, winning balance beam gold and team bronze, and placing sixth in the all-around and eighth on floor exercise.

In May of 2021, she again competed at the Chinese Championships, placing third with the Zhejiang team. She placed ninth in the all-around and sixth on beam. She was selected as one of China's two individual gymnasts for the Tokyo Olympics, which marked her senior international debut.[1]

Tokyo Olympics[]

Guan competed in the second subdivision, starting on vault. Her only event was balance beam, where she qualified to the final in first place. She competed last in the final, and won the gold medal.

Post-Olympics[]

Guan competed at the Chinese National Games in September, placing fourth with her team and fifth on balance beam.

In 2022, Guan retired from gymnastics, intending to focus on university studies.[2]
