Tatiana Frolova (Russian: Татьяна Фролова, born April 26 in Bryansk) is a retired gymnast from the former Soviet Union. She won team gold medals at the 1983 World Championships and 1984 Friendship Games.
Career[]
Frolova made her elite debut at the 1980 Junior USSR Championships, placing eleventh in the all-around. Her international debut came at a junior dual meet against East Germany, where she won team gold and all-around bronze medals. In 1981, she won vault and floor exercise silver, all-around bronze, and placed fifth on beam at the Ennia Gold Cup. She also won gold on vault and bronze in the all-around at the Moscow News, silver on bars and placed thirteenth in the all-around at the USSR Championships, and gold on vault and silver in the all-around at the USSR Cup. In 1982, she placed sixth in the all-around at the American Cup.
In 1983, she competed at the Riga International, winning all-around and floor exercise gold, uneven bars silver, and vault and balance beam bronze. She was selected to the Soviet team for the World Championships. She contributed to their gold medal finish, and individually placed fourth on bars and fifth on beam and in the all-around. She went on to compete at a dual meet against the USA, where she helped the Soviets claim the gold, and finished eighth in the all-around. She won bronze on vault and floor and placed fifteenth in the all-around at the USSR Championships, and won gold on floor and finished fourth on beam, fifth on vault, and sixth in the all-around at the USSR Cup.
In 1984, she competed in the CSSR Spartakiade, winning the team gold medal, and went on to win uneven bars gold and all-around silver at the Beijing International. She also won all-around, uneven bars, and floor exercise gold and balance beam bronze at the Riga International. She placed second at the USSR Cup, and was named to the Soviet team for the Friendship Games, as the Soviet Union was boycotting the 1984 Olympics. She helped the Soviet team win the team gold medal.
In 1985, she competed at the Universiade, winning team gold, all-around bronze, and placing sixth on beam and seventh on bars. She placed fifth at the USSR Championships, and fifteenth in the all-around and eighth on vault at the USSR Cup. She retired afterwards.
