Zoja Grancharova (born 6 May, 1966) is a retired Bulgarian artistic gymnast. Grancharova was the first Bulgarian woman to win a gymnastics medal at a World Championships.
Career[]
Grancharova made her international debut in 1980 at the Balkan Championships. The following year she attended the World Championships in Moscow where she won a bronze medal on the floor exercise. In 1982 Grancharova traveled to the United States where she won the American Cup, tying with American Julianne McNamara. Grancharova attended her second World Championships in 1983 where she placed 4th with the Bulgarian team and advanced to the all-around and floor exercise finals but did not medal. Due to the boycott of the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics Grancharova was not able to attend an Olympic Games. She retired at the end of 1984.
Post-Retirement[]
Following retirement, Grancharova moved to Canada with her husband and son. She later had a daughter. Grancharova is currently coaching in Toronto.
